August in Florida is already known to be boiling hot, but when FetishCon 2006 rolled into Tampa for its annual summertime visit, things got even more heated up. Fortunately for me, I was selected to appear as a guest of honor at this year's convention and found myself right in the middle of all the action. The show turned out to be a blast, so sit back and let me share my experience with you.
Over the past several years, FetishCon has evolved into one of the leading tradeshows dedicated solely to fetish enthusiasts. The event organizers, Vesta and Genesis Lynn, have tirelessly worked on expanding the event and have succeeded in making it a mecca for all things kinky. It now attracts scores of top fetish models, talented photographers, vendors of all sorts of playthings, and just downright pervy people looking to party.
The event spanned four days, beginning with an opening night cocktail party and closing with a fetish ball. In between, there was so much to do and see that even the most die-hard fetishists were left needing a rest. During the daytime, there was a traditional convention-style floor consisting of row upon row of booths. On display were all sorts of fetish merchandise, from cutting-edge clothing to totally outrageous toys. No matter what your kink, you were bound to find just the right tools to bring your fantasies to life.
The convention floor also provided space to many of the leading figures in the fetish entertainment industry. There were impressive showings by heavyweights like Kink.Com and Clips4Sale.Com, as well as notables such as Skin Two, DDI, and a host of other talented photographers, website operators, artists and video companies.
And to provide the show with a little eye-candy, an entire row of booths was dedicated to the guests of honor, a collection of the hottest fetish models in the business. The list included Emily Marilyn, Kumi, Anastasia Pierce, Jewell Marceau, Eden Wells, Paige Richards, Angela Ryan, Isabella Sinclair, Diana Knight, Darla Crane, Goddess Heather, Cristina Carter, Jasmine Sinclair … and of course, yours truly, RubberDoll! Walking past all those gorgeous fetish girls, dolled up in their fetish finest, was worth the price of admission alone. It was a great way for fans to press the flesh with their favorite models, and get some great souvenirs as well.
The daytime also provided plenty of other worthwhile activities. There was a whole schedule of informative classes and seminars where you could learn about everything from bondage techniques to burlesque dancing tips to the legal concerns associated with producing fetish content. And if you got tired of all that learning, you could step outside and enjoy a fashion show featuring the creations of the attending vendors as they were paraded by an assortment of beautiful girls.
As you can tell, daytime at FetishCon was fun, but the action really started when the sun went down. This year's convention featured after-hours parties every single night and they were not to be missed. The opening night featured a cocktail party at the hotel, which provided a low-key way to get started and mingle with the attendees. It was a nice way to see old friends, meet some new ones, and get a feel for the convention. A live band provided reggae music and the liquor flowed well into the night. Afterwards, the action headed to the pool area and the fun continued until the sun came up.
The following night was the big Friday bash at Tampa's legendary goth club, The Castle. The party was thrown by Atlanta fetish promoter JSin, who packed the club to the rafters with beautiful people, all dressed to impress and inspired by the "Vamps & Vixens" theme. It was an evening full of debauchery with a retro flair, as Paige Richards, Eden Wells, Zadora Dare, and Natalie Minx took to the stage and teased the crowd with modern burlesque masterpieces. The party roared through the night and was definitely an event to remember.
Saturday night rolled around and it was time for the "Guilty Pleasures" party, which was held in a two-level club with a completely outfitted dungeon upstairs. I was booked to perform at the event, which also featured hot shows from Angela Ryan, Jami Deadly, and Athena Fatale. For my performances, I got some help from my girlfriend, K-La, and started with a kinky confession routine where I assumed the role of strict rubber nun who dished out some serious discipline to my naughty schoolgirl. Next, I switched gears and did a heavy rubber themed show that climaxed with me sealing K-La in a custom latex vacbed, complete with a big black dildo attachment. Needless to say, it was a night filled with over the top entertainment. After the shows, the crowd moved upstairs to the play area and the action continued with many hot scenes.
Despite the non-stop partying on Friday and Saturday, there was still more fun to be had as the convention floor was cleared and the ballroom was prepared for the final event of the weekend; the Sunday Night Fetish Ball. All the convention attendees got dressed up in their kinky rubber clothes and headed to the ballroom for one last fling. Like the rest of the weekend's events, the Fetish Ball featured some great entertainment, with burlesque shows and live music. But for me the highlight was a wild and wooly circus-style sideshow from the Reverend B. Dangerous. His show was not for the faint of heart, and I even got to participate by throwing darts into his back. Ouch!
Altogether, the weekend was a smashing success and FetishCon '06 will be remembered as another in a long line of great conventions Vesta and Genesis have hosted. So next summer, if you find the heat is making you a little stir-crazy, make your travel plans to Tampa and get ready for a long, crazy weekend of non-stop fetish fun in the sun!
